Rich and delicious nougat not only has a great texture but is also quite filling, making it a perfect snack to boost your energy between meals. Today, I'm going to teach you how to make delicious peanut nougat at home.
Peanut Nougat
Ingredients:
180g marshmallows, 80g or 100g milk powder (increasing the milk powder slightly will make the nougat texture softer), 20g butter, 200g peanuts, 20g sesame seeds.
Tools:
One non-stick pan, one silicone spatula, one non-stick tray, one rolling pin, one kitchen scissors, one resealable bag.
Instructions:
1. Roast the peanuts until fragrant, then peel them. Place them in a resealable bag, seal it, and crush them with a rolling pin. Set aside.
2. Toast the sesame seeds over low heat, then place them in a small bowl and set aside.
3. Heat the pan over high heat, then reduce to low. Add the butter and let it melt. Pour in the marshmallows and stir continuously until they form a paste.
4. Sprinkle in the milk powder and mix well.
5. Add the peanuts and sesame seeds and continue to mix well. Remove from heat and immediately transfer to the non-stick tray. Cover your hands with plastic wrap and press the mixture into a mold. Let it cool, then cut it into small pieces with kitchen scissors.
Notes:
1. Be sure to use a non-stick pan and a silicone spatula, as the nougat mixture is very sticky during the process.
2. For a richer, softer texture, use more milk powder and shorten the cooking time. For a crispier, harder texture, use less milk powder and extend the cooking time.
3. The nougat will not be sticky once it has completely cooled. Using kitchen scissors is easier than a fruit knife for cutting it into pieces.
4. Peanuts can be replaced with almonds, cranberries, cashews, or peeled walnuts in an equal weight.
