7 Foods to Relieve Springtime Dry Mouth and Throat.

The spring climate is dry, and many people often feel a dry mouth and throat. Drinking water can sometimes alleviate this, but sometimes even drinking water has no effect. Why is this? What should we do about a dry mouth and throat in spring?

1. Duck

Can be used to make soup or braised as a dish. Duck meat is cooling in nature and should be avoided by those with a yin-deficient spleen and stomach, or those who frequently have diarrhea.

2. Black Sesame

Can be cooked into congee or ground into black sesame powder for consumption. Black sesame has a laxative effect and should not be taken by those with a weak spleen and loose stools.

3. Lily Bulb

Can be steamed or cooked into congee. Lily bulb is cool in nature and should be avoided for epigastric and abdominal cold pain, diarrhea caused by a deficient and cold spleen and stomach, and cough caused by an external cold.

4. Lotus Plumule Tea

Steep lotus plumules in boiling water. The tea should not be too strong or too weak. Drinking it two to three times a day can prevent a dry mouth and throat, rising false fire, a sore and itchy throat, hoarseness, and a heavy head feeling. It can also help treat coughs.

5. Goji Berries

Every night, eat 30 grams of goji berries, chew them as thoroughly as possible, and be consistent. However, it should be noted that for the elderly with long-term dry mouth, further examination is required, as some people with cancer also experience dry mouth. Do not be careless. Additionally, for diabetics or the elderly who experience dry mouth due to decreased saliva secretion, especially at night, you can wash the goji berries and keep them ready. When needed, place one berry on your tongue; after a few seconds, saliva will be produced from the root of your tongue, relieving the dryness. Place one in your mouth before sleep, and you won't need to drink water all night.

6. Sugarcane

Can be eaten raw or juiced and taken daily. Sugarcane is cool in nature and should be avoided by those with a deficient and cold spleen and stomach, or those with internal dampness. Also, due to its high sugar content, it should be avoided by diabetics.

7. Honey and Rice Vinegar

Twice a day, in the morning and evening, mix 1 spoonful of honey and 2 spoonfuls of rice vinegar into a large cup of hot water. Drinking this continuously for several months will improve the condition, and it can also help normalize abnormal bowel movements.
