Men who love garlic are more attractive to women.

Garlic, as one of the most common foods in people's daily lives, is eaten by people from all over the country. With scientific research increasingly uncovering its medicinal and edible value, a new discovery by British and Czech researchers has found that men who love garlic are actually more popular with women. So, what's going on here?

The Aroma of Garlic More Easily Captures Hearts

However, according to a report by the British Daily Telegraph on November 11, researchers from the University of Stirling in the UK and Charles University in the Czech Republic have proposed a new insight. The latest research shows that the sulfur-containing gases that cause "bad breath" after chewing garlic are highly volatile and are unlikely to enter the systemic circulation after swallowing. Therefore, consumers need not worry about developing "body odor." On the contrary, after men eat garlic, the scent of their underarm sweat is "more pleasant" to women, making it easier for them to win female favor.

According to Xinhua International, researchers from the two countries have offered two explanations. First, garlic has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties, helping to prevent colds, lower blood pressure, and fight cancer. Therefore, men who release a "garlic signal" in their sweat can instinctively give women the impression of good health.

Second, the unpleasant odor of underarm sweat comes from microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, while garlic's antibacterial and disinfectant effects make the sweat truly "smell better."

The researchers specially reminded that while fresh breath is certainly one of the important factors for a successful date, the scent of underarm sweat is also a factor that cannot be ignored in social interactions. Not only do humans consider health signals released by body odor when choosing mates, but numerous previous studies have also shown that animals select healthy partners based on body odor.

Too Little Garlic Isn't "Aromatic" Enough

British and Czech researchers selected a total of 42 men and 82 women for the experiment and published their research report in the latest issue of the British journal "Appetite."

Xinhua International learned that the participating men were divided into three groups, who alternately ate raw garlic, took garlic capsules, or consumed no garlic. Pads were used to collect their underarm sweat, which was then presented to the women for smelling.

The results showed that men who ate raw garlic or took garlic capsules were significantly more popular with women than those who did not eat garlic.

Interestingly, when the men only ate two cloves of garlic, their sweat did not smell better to women; however, when they increased it to four cloves, they immediately received a lot of "approval." The researchers concluded that if men want to eat garlic to improve their body odor, eating too little is not effective.

It seems the charm of garlic is extraordinary. For all the single gentlemen out there who want to find a partner, you might as well try eating a few more garlic cloves to become a "charmer" who makes other men feel "ashamed" and women "tear up" when they smell you!
