Seven Dietary Remedies for Baby's "Heatiness"

From a dietary and health perspective, the general principle is: drink plenty of water and eat more light, easily digestible foods. Specifically, parents should pay attention to the following points.

1. Increase the intake of fresh vegetables and fruits rich in fiber.

When cooking, pay attention to adding lotus root (boiled in water or cooked in congee is most effective), radish (green radish is best, followed by red-skinned with white flesh; it's best eaten raw, but those with stomach problems can make radish soup), fennel, and bitter gourd; moderately increase the intake of cooling fruits such as watermelon, pear, grapefruit, pomelo, coconut, orange, firm persimmon, mangosteen, and tomato; and moderately increase the intake of neutral fruits such as apple, grape, orange, papaya, strawberry, cherry, and mulberry. Reduce the intake of heating fruits such as longan, lychee, mango, and durian.

2. Try to provide children with overly greasy foods prepared by deep-frying and braising methods as little as possible.

3. Control children's snacks, especially reducing the intake of highly processed foods that are high in oil and sugar.

4. Ensure an adequate supply of high-quality protein such as eggs, lean meat, fish, and beans, but animal protein should be chosen as low-fat as possible and not too greasy. Use cooking methods such as clear stewing and steaming more often.

5. Eat less spicy and irritating food to keep stools from being dry and urine from being turbid.

6. Children can often eat mung bean porridge, lotus leaf porridge, or mung bean soup, lotus seed soup (with the lotus seeds not removed).

7. Eat more foods that strengthen the spleen and whet the appetite, and aid digestion, such as hawthorn and Chinese yam.
