Let's take two meals from a food delivery website as an example: one is the Secret Braised Pork Belly Set (rice, braised pork belly, poached egg, and dry chili shredded potatoes), and the other is the Black Bean Cod Set (rice, black bean cod, cauliflower with pork slices, and stir-fried bok choy). Both sets meet our previous requirement of having 2-3 dishes with rice served separately. So, which one is actually healthier?
In the braised pork belly set, the only vegetable dish is the shredded potatoes, which are more like a staple food than a vegetable. In contrast, the dishes in the black bean cod set are more varied, including cauliflower and bok choy. Moreover, the bok choy is stir-fried, a relatively healthy cooking method. Therefore, when choosing, we should not only look at the quantity of dishes but also pay attention to the variety. It's important to ensure that at least half of the dishes are vegetarian, and that this includes green leafy vegetables.
