100% juice isn't actually juice. Don't make the mistake of drinking it.

Family gatherings are incomplete without buying drinks for children, and many parents prefer to buy juice labeled "100% juice," but most parents do not truly understand the concept of "100% juice."

The "National Food Safety Standard for General Rules for the Labeling of Prepackaged Foods" (GB7718-2011) requires that the specific name reflecting the true nature of the food must be clearly indicated in a conspicuous position on the food label. There is no stipulation that "reconstituted juice must be labeled" or "reconstituted juice cannot be labeled as 100% content." Experts explain that "100% juice" products clearly indicate on their packaging that the ingredients contain purified water, which means the product is a type of reconstituted juice. The "100%" label before the product name aims to truthfully inform consumers of the juice concentration of the contents.

In reality, "100% juice" can be interpreted in two ways: one is pure juice made from fresh fruits with no additives, and the other is reconstituted from concentrated juice. Literally, many consumers would interpret "100% juice" as the former. In fact, the "100% pure juice" claimed by merchants is "reconstituted juice," which is a reconstituted juice made from fruit concentrate and water as ingredients.

Experts explain that this type of reconstituted juice is similar to liquid milk processed from milk powder and can easily mislead consumers.

Hu Xiaosong suggests that the industry should strengthen supervision, and companies should be more self-disciplined, ensuring that "100% juice" is reconstituted to its original juice concentration, and promptly carry out popular science publicity to help consumers correctly understand the labeling of juices, enabling it to guide the rational selection and pairing of daily diets.

He emphasized that the national standard for the original juice content in juice is urgently needed to prevent some companies from producing juice beverages that do not match their labeled juice content.
