The food is actually quite safe, no pork tapeworms.

In September 2013, a rumor claiming that "pork contains long hookworms that cannot be boiled soft, fried thoroughly, or killed by high temperatures" went viral online in the Longsheng area of Guangxi, and in the following years, numerous derivative and mutated versions of the rumor continued to appear.

In early June 2016, the State Administration responded to this rumor, and many media outlets, such as People's Daily and Xinhua News Agency, published refutations. At the 2016 China Food Rumor-Refuting Forum, the China Food Rumor-Refuting Alliance released the top three food rumors, and the so-called "pork hookworm" was confirmed to be baseless.
