As the temperature gradually rises, so does the intensity of the sun. Ultraviolet rays not only tan the skin but, more importantly, can cause sunburn, also known as solar dermatitis. Below, we'll share some little tips to rescue your skin after a sunburn. Before the hot summer arrives, stock up on some sun protection and skincare knowledge.
Summer Essentials: Post-Sunburn Skin Rescue Methods
Watermelon Peel Facial
If you have only minor sunburn, it is recommended to use the white layer of the watermelon peel on your face. Because watermelon peel is rich in vitamins A, B, and C, all of which are essential nutrients for maintaining healthy and moisturized skin. Moreover, watermelon peel itself is full of water and can provide emergency hydration to the skin.
Chilled Milk Compress
Applying chilled milk to sunburned areas can quickly relieve the burning and pain of post-sun skin. Then rinse it off with cool water and apply a post-sun repair gel. Chilling the milk enhances its effect.
External Application of Dandelion
Ingredients: 30g of dandelion, 20g of wild chrysanthemum, or 30g each of raw Sanguisorba root and purslane.
Method: Decoct the above ingredients in water. After the liquid cools, apply it as a compress to the affected area. Use one dose daily, for 30 minutes each time, 3 to 4 times a day, until symptoms subside or you recover.
Lavender Essential Oil Mask
First, mix lavender essential oil with a carrier oil. Apply it to the affected skin morning and evening. It can soothe the pain of sunburn, accelerate skin recovery, and moisturize dry, dehydrated skin.
DIY Cucumber Mask
Slice fresh cucumbers, soak them in milk, then refrigerate. Apply them to your face. This can help reduce inflammation, calm the skin, and alleviate sunburn.
Phellodendron and Indigo Paste
Ingredients: Phellodendron bark, Indigo naturalis.
Method: Grind equal parts of Phellodendron bark and Indigo naturalis into a fine powder. Mix with sesame oil to form a paste and apply to the affected area twice daily.
