Four foods not to be eaten with pork!

Pork is a major staple in daily life, known for its effects of nourishing the body, strengthening the constitution, moistening yin and moistening dryness, and enriching the muscles and skin. However, it should not be consumed simultaneously with four other foods, otherwise, it can be harmful to your life! Pork is one of the most frequently consumed foods, and people eat it almost every day. And precisely because of this frequent contact, there are numerous ways to cook this traditional delicacy. However, while it's good to have variety in your dishes, a lack of nutritional knowledge and random pairings can affect your health. The following four foods should not be eaten with pork.

1. Soybeans

From the perspective of modern nutrition, soybeans and pork are not a suitable pairing because soybeans are high in phytic acid, with 60%--80% of phosphorus existing in the form of phytic acid. It often forms complexes with proteins and mineral elements, affecting the availability of both and reducing their utilization efficiency. Additionally, minerals in soybeans, such as calcium, iron, and zinc, bind with those from lean meats and other non-vegetarian foods, thereby interfering with and reducing the human body's absorption of these elements. Therefore, pork and soybeans are not a good combination, and stewing pig's trotters with soybeans is an inappropriate pairing.

2. Sheep Liver

Traditional Chinese medicine states: "Eating pork and sheep liver together can cause a feeling of chest oppression." This is mainly because sheep liver has a bitter and cold nature, known to nourish the liver, improve vision, and treat liver wind and deficiency heat. Pork is rich and greasy, which can lead to damp-heat and phlegm upon entering the stomach. From the perspective of food properties, they are not suitable to be paired together. Sheep liver has a strong, gamey smell; when stir-fried with pork, it can easily produce an unpleasant flavor. From a culinary standpoint, it is also not advisable.

3. Cilantro

Cilantro is pungent and warm, and it is said to consume qi and harm the spirit. Pork is rich and greasy, which can generate damp-heat and phlegm. Ancient texts record: "All meats have a nourishing effect, except for pork, which has none." One consumes qi, while the other offers no nourishment. Therefore, consuming them together is detrimental to the body.

4. Beef

The idea that pork and beef should not be eaten together has a long history. The "Yin Zheng Yao" (Important Principles of Diet) points out: "Pork should not be eaten with beef." This is mainly considered from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine. From the standpoint of food properties, pork is sour, cold, and slightly cool, with a greasy and yin-cold nature, while beef is sweet and warm, able to nourish the spleen and stomach, strengthen the waist and legs, and has the function of stabilizing the middle and replenishing qi. One is warm and the other is cold; one nourishes the middle jiao (spleen and stomach), while the other is cold and greasy, weakening the body. Their natures are in conflict, so they should not be consumed together.
