In the summer heat, people need to drink more water to meet their body's hydration needs. Once dehydrated, the body can experience a variety of problems, which in severe cases can even lead to renal failure and cerebral edema. In fact, by the time you feel thirsty, it's already too late to drink water. Therefore, you need to rehydrate when these signs appear!
1. Flushing
If your skin frequently turns slightly red without exercise or sun exposure, it's a sign of dehydration. Similarly, dry, flaky skin is also a sign of chronic dehydration. At this point, in addition to drinking water, you should also apply some hydrating products to your face and body.
2. Headaches
Many headaches are caused by dehydration. If you feel a headache, don't rush for painkillers; try drinking a glass of water to relieve it first.
3. Chapped Lips
The initial signs of dehydration include chapped lips and difficulty swallowing.
4. Sudden Fatigue
When the body is dehydrated, it can feel fatigued and slow to react. Children may become less active than usual and suddenly quiet down. If you're still thirsty after drinking a lot of water, it could be due to adrenal fatigue. People with this condition should ensure they consume about 3.7 liters of water per day.
5. Rapid Breathing
Just as animals pant heavily when thirsty, people may experience shortness of breath when dehydrated, sometimes accompanied by a rapid heartbeat. It's important to rehydrate promptly, as this can otherwise increase the risk of heart disease.

6. Lack of Concentration
Dehydration can cause a lack of blood flow to the brain, leading to dizziness, difficulty concentrating, and confused thinking. If this happens frequently and is progressively worsening, it must be taken seriously, and you should seek medical attention promptly.
7. Nausea
If you feel nauseous or have no appetite, it also indicates that your body is dehydrated. This is often a significant sign of dehydration in pregnant women.
8. Irritability or Depression
If you find yourself inexplicably down or frequently angry at those around you, a glass of water is urgently needed to help. It should be combined with adequate rest to allow your body and mood to gradually adjust to the rehydration.
9. Skin Edema
If you press or pinch your skin and it doesn't bounce back quickly, it indicates skin edema and dehydration. This is also one of the methods doctors use to check if a patient is dehydrated.
10. No Urination for 8 Hours
Constipation and difficulty urinating are two common symptoms of dehydration. If an adult hasn't urinated in 8 hours or a baby in 3 hours, and this is sometimes accompanied by cramps, it means their body is dehydrated.
11. Dark Urine
Observing the color of your urine is the most accurate way to check for dehydration. If your urine is dark yellow and cloudy, it means you are severely dehydrated.
It's important to note that when rehydrating after dehydration, don't rush. Sip water slowly to avoid causing a reaction from your body. This is especially true for infants; they can only be fed one teaspoon at a time. If dehydration develops into severe diarrhea, accompanied by vomiting, fever, or bloody stools, simply rehydrating won't solve the problem, and you should seek medical attention immediately.
