Every couple wants to have a healthy and smart baby, so you need to be careful and pay attention from the pre-conception period. The diet during the pre-conception period is not only something for the expectant mother to be mindful of, but the expectant father must also be cautious; there are certain foods that must absolutely be avoided.
1. Tobacco and Alcohol
Tobacco and alcohol can both reduce and damage the quantity and motility of sperm. It typically takes a man 3 months to produce new sperm. When planning to conceive, it is essential to quit smoking and alcohol 3-6 months before conception.
2. Celery
Celery has the effect of inhibiting sperm production, which can lead to a decrease in sperm count and erectile dysfunction. Regular consumption of celery can cause a reduction in male sperm count, but after stopping for 16 weeks, the sperm count can return to normal.
3. Garlic
Garlic has a significant sperm-killing effect. If the expectant father consumes too much, it can adversely affect fertility, so it should not be eaten in large quantities.

4. Soybeans
When sperm comes into contact with an egg, it releases certain substances to break through the egg's outer layer and penetrate it to fertilize it. Soybeans contain hormone-like chemicals. Studies have shown that even when sperm is exposed to very small amounts of these chemicals, it can prematurely expend energy, reducing the rate of sperm-egg combination.
5. Sunflower Seeds
The protein portion of sunflower seeds contains components that inhibit the testes, which can cause testicular atrophy and affect normal reproductive function. Expectant fathers should not consume them in large quantities.
