Are you preparing to quit smoking? Then eating more vegetables and less meat, and switching your coffee for a glass of milk, might help you. A study by Duke University in the U.S. found that fruits, vegetables, and dairy products make cigarettes taste worse, while meat, coffee, and alcoholic beverages make smoking feel more pleasurable.
Duke University researchers had 209 smokers list foods that made smoking feel better or worse. About 70% of them believed that caffeinated drinks, alcoholic beverages, and meat made smoking feel better. Meanwhile, 45% of the respondents said that fruits, vegetables, and non-caffeinated drinks like water and juice, as well as dairy products, made their smoking experience worse.
Therefore, the researchers suggest that people preparing to quit should drink plenty of water, eat cabbage and celery, or consume more dairy products.
