Vegetables are effective in preventing osteoporosis.

A study conducted by two PhDs from the University of Bern in Switzerland, concerning the relationship between vegetables and the prevention of osteoporosis, has drawn the attention of American medical institutions. In animal experiments, the two PhDs fed male mice 1 gram of dried onion daily, achieving a result of 20% less bone loss calcium compared to the control mice. This figure is better than the effect of the existing drug for preventing bone loss, "Calcitonin." In a similar experiment conducted on female mice under conditions simulating postmenopausal women, an even greater result of preventing more than 30% bone loss was achieved. In the animal experiments, the two PhDs also used 14 other different vegetables for feeding studies, concluding that to prevent osteoporosis, in addition to moderate intake of dairy products and calcium supplements, adopting a rich vegetable diet is also very important.
