Everyone is familiar with DHA, a substance known as "brain gold." It is currently recognized as a brain-nourishing nutrient and an essential nutrient for teenagers to enhance intelligence, strengthen memory, and improve learning abilities. However, DHA is only found in fish and a few aquatic animals; other foods such as grains, soybeans, potatoes, livestock and poultry meat, and vegetables and fruits contain almost no DHA.
Many people mistakenly believe that DHA is only found in marine fish, but this is not the case.
Researchers from the Academy of State Administration of Grain have analyzed and compared the DHA and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid, another essential fatty acid for the human body that often appears alongside DHA) content in the muscle and visceral fat of fish such as Alaskan fish oil, salmon, hairtail, yellow croaker, mackerel, butterfish, sea bass, mandarin fish, Wuchang fish, carp, and grass carp.
