Drinking grape juice is better than drinking orange juice.

If you think that starting your day with a glass of orange juice for breakfast is a healthy beginning, you might want to think again. The latest research shows that grape juice offers more benefits to your body than orange juice.

Scientists recently completed the first scientific analysis of the antioxidant components in 13 types of juice. According to the findings, purple grape juice ranked first among healthy juices, followed by apple juice and cranberry juice. In contrast, the most common and popular orange juice ranked low. It was reported that orange juice contains less polyphenols—a powerful antioxidant—than the other juices tested.

It is reported that this research was prompted by previous findings by American scientists that long-term juice consumption could reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. Researchers tracked the health of 2,000 volunteers over a 10-year period and found that people who drank juice at least three times a week had a 76% lower risk of developing Alzheimer's compared to those who drank juice less than once a week.

The study also found that drinking a variety of juices yields better anti-aging effects than drinking a single type, as this allows the body to intake a wider range of polyphenolic antioxidants. Furthermore, the antioxidant polyphenols in purple grape juice are comparable to those found in the world's best-selling French Beaujolais wine.
