Four Foods That Strengthen the Heart

I. Rice Water

Rice water is a beverage that heart patients can trust. Use four times the amount of water used to cook dry rice, and soak the rice and water overnight before cooking. After cooking, strain out the rice grains, store it in the refrigerator, and sip it throughout the day. Drink the rice water slowly; do not gulp it down. For the best therapeutic effect, it is best to drink it between meals, not with meals.

Drinking it with meals can dilute stomach enzymes, which is not good for digestion. If making a hot drink, you can add sugar. For a better flavor, you can also add lemon juice.

II. A Wonderful Bioflavonoid Drink

Chop 12 oranges and 1 lemon, including the peel, pulp, and seeds, and put them into a blender to make a delicious natural drink. This drink is rich in bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids belong to the vitamin C family and are a natural remedy for treating colds and fighting infections. They can both prevent and treat systemic bleeding, acute rheumatoid arthritis, capillaries that are too thin or fragile, and uterine diseases prone to miscarriage. It is also an excellent drink for treating heart disease. It can be taken alternately with rice water. Heart patients should not consume too much bioflavonoid drink, especially when taking it alternately with rice water.

III. Watermelon

Watermelon is a beneficial "beverage food" for treating heart disease. Watermelon is a good "diuretic" without side effects. Cut the watermelon into small pieces, eat them whole like popcorn, and have a small piece every few minutes. Additionally, if you cannot do without a drink during meals, you can place a piece of watermelon next to your plate to replace your usual plain water or other drinks.

IV. Sunflower Seeds

Consuming 60 grams of sunflower seeds is the best protein-rich small meal. Before consumption, the sunflower seeds must be washed and shelled. Elderly patients with dentures can have them crushed. You can also add sunflower seeds to cold salads and drizzle with malt oil. Such a nutritious food can be used as a main course. Pumpkin seeds can be used as a substitute for sunflower seeds. This food is especially suitable for patients with prostatitis.
