Green tea steeped with sour apples has anti-aging properties.

On my way to work, I passed a fruit shop with a sign that read: New Summer Apples. In the office after noon, the heat felt more intense due to the busy day. A large platter of fresh fruits had been taken one by one, leaving only a few green summer apples. When I asked why, everyone said: "They're not sweet."

Compared to autumn and winter apples like Guoguang, Yellow Delicious, and Fuji, summer apples are indeed less sweet and have a thinner flavor, which doesn't quite align with the Chinese palate. However, when it comes to nutritional value, summer apples are by no means inferior.

First, from the perspective of providing energy, apples are inherently low-energy foods, and summer apples have even lower energy, typically accounting for 90% of autumn apples. Furthermore, summer apples contain higher levels of micronutrients like calcium, potassium, and magnesium than autumn apples. Recent research has found that substances in apples such as pectin, organic acids, and phenolic compounds have significant health benefits for modern people, and none of these components are the source of an apple's sweetness.

However, besides eating them fresh, there's a special way to enjoy summer apples. I sliced the summer apples into thin strips and added them to green tea. After fifteen minutes, I invited everyone to taste it, and they all exclaimed: "It's fragrant, sweet, and has a unique flavor."

Apples with green tea is not a simple 1+1. Research from Nagasaki University in Japan has confirmed that adding apples to green tea increases the overall antioxidant level of the beverage, making it more effective in preventing cancer, anti-aging, and immune regulation.

Put 5 grams of green tea and thinly sliced or diced apples into a glass cup, pour in 200-300 ml of boiled water that is no hotter than 60°C, and the apple green tea is ready to drink in 10 minutes. When the tea is down to 1/3, you can add another 200 ml of water; this can usually be repeated 3-4 times before it loses its value. Apple green tea not only overcomes the sourness of summer apples but is also very suitable for the elderly with dental problems.
