Food Coma: The Sin of Deliciousness (Image)
After a sumptuous feast of chicken, duck, fish, and meat, if you experience symptoms like dizziness and palpitations, you might be suffering from "Delicious Syndrome."
The cause of this condition is the high content of monosodium glutamate (MSG) in the consumed food. MSG is the main component of味精 (a flavor enhancer) and has the effect of stimulating the taste buds and increasing appetite. However, if consumed in excess, it breaks down into tyrosine and glutamic acid, causing abnormal metabolism and leading to illness.
"Delicious Syndrome" typically occurs within half an hour after a large, meat-heavy meal. Symptoms can include dizziness, vertigo, weakness, palpitations, and shortness of breath. Some individuals may experience numbness in the upper limbs and trembling in the lower limbs, while a few patients may exhibit nausea and discomfort in the upper abdomen.
Particular attention must be paid to children who are still growing and developing. They should not eat too much delicious food at once to avoid overindulging and causing "Delicious Syndrome."
