Vision-Health Diet for Office Workers
People who spend long hours online or working on computers often have poor vision, frequently experiencing symptoms such as blurred vision, dry and itchy eyes, and even eye pain and conjunctival congestion. Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that "the liver opens to the eyes," "prolonged viewing harms the blood," and "long-term damage harms the liver." Therefore, it is important to nourish the eyes. Commonly used foods include mustard greens, bitter melon, carrots, torreya nuts, figs, animal liver, white fish, clam meat, and river snails. Below are several dietary therapy recipes suitable for improving vision and nourishing the eyes:
1. 15 grams of mulberries, 9 grams of white chrysanthemum, and one spoonful of sugar. Decoct in water and drink once daily.
2. 6 carrots. Decoct in water and drink over two days. Continue this for several dozen days. This recipe helps resolve stagnation and improve vision. It is suitable for night blindness or childhood malnutrition.
3. One white fish, descaled and gutted. 30 grams of goji berries. Boil them together into a soup and eat. This recipe strengthens the spleen and stomach, and nourishes the liver and kidneys. It is used for tearing and blurred vision due to liver and kidney yin deficiency.
4. 20 grams of goji berries. Chew and swallow once daily. This course of treatment lasts for half a month.
5. Chrysanthemum tea. Steep with boiling water and drink frequently.
6. Gordon Euryale Seed Porridge
Ingredients: 20 Gordon Euryale seeds, 7 longan flesh, 100 grams of glutinous rice.
Method: Cook the Gordon Euryale seeds, longan flesh, and glutinous rice together to make a porridge.
Usage: Take on an empty stomach once or twice daily.
Efficacy: This porridge is also known as "Feiyang Porridge." It can nourish essence, strengthen the will, improve hearing and vision, benefit the five organs, and improve complexion.
7. Silver Ear and Goji Berry Brightening Soup
Ingredients: 15 grams each of silver ear fungus and goji berries, 100 grams of chicken liver, 24 jasmine flowers, and appropriate amounts of starch, cooking wine, ginger juice, and salt.
Method:
①. Wash the chicken liver, slice it thinly, and place it in a bowl. Mix with starch, cooking wine, ginger juice, and salt, and set aside.
②. Wash the silver ear fungus, tear it into small pieces, and soak in water; pick the stems from the jasmine flowers, wash them, and place them on a plate; wash the goji berries and set aside.
③. Place a pot on the stove, add clear broth, then add cooking wine, ginger juice, salt, and MSG. Bring to a boil, then add the silver ear fungus, chicken liver, and goji berries. Bring back to a boil, skim off the foam. When the chicken liver is just cooked, ladle into a bowl and sprinkle the jasmine flowers on top.
Usage: Twice daily. As a side dish with a meal.
Efficacy: Nourishes the liver and kidneys, improves vision, and beautifies the complexion. Suitable for blurred vision, dim eyesight, and a sallow complexion caused by yin deficiency.
8. Fo-Ti and Mistletoe Egg Soup
Ingredients: 70 grams of Fo-Ti root, 50 grams of mistletoe, 3 eggs.
Method: Wash the Fo-Ti root, mistletoe, and eggs. Place them in a clay pot with an appropriate amount of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Remove the eggs, peel them, and put them back into the pot. Simmer for another 40 minutes. Add sugar and bring to a boil. Drink the soup and eat the eggs.
Efficacy: Nourishes blood and kidneys, blackens hair, and brightens the complexion. Suitable for those with blood deficiency and a weak constitution, premature graying of hair, dizziness, blurred vision, and premature aging; also suitable for those with kidney deficiency and dampness causing knee and leg pain, and numbness in the limbs.
