Women who frequently drink cola are more likely to develop hypertension
Core tip: Women should reduce their frequency and amount of cola consumption to avoid the symptoms of hypertension that excessive cola drinking can bring, thus preventing themselves from falling into a health crisis.
In the research on the causes of hypertension, diet is also one of the important "inducers" of hypertension. Many people know that drinking too much coffee can pose a risk of elevated blood pressure. However, as research deepens, it has been found that this does not apply to women. Instead, drinking too much cola has become a major triggering factor for hypertension in women. But why is that?
In daily life, cola has become a popular beverage. It is a carbonated drink with high sugar content, and long-term consumption can easily lead to weight gain. Cola contains caffeine, similar to coffee, as well as preservatives. For women, it is better to drink it less. A 12-year study conducted abroad, with approximately 155,000 women participating, analyzed over 30,000 hypertension cases and found no correlation between frequent coffee consumption and hypertension. On the contrary, among this group, women who drank more than 3 cups of coffee a day had a 7% to 12% lower average rate of hypertension than those who drank less than 3 cups or no coffee at all. In contrast, people who drank more than 4 cans of cola a day had a 28% to 44% higher hypertension rate than those who drank less cola or none at all.
It seems that people's love for cola should be curbed, especially for women, who must prevent the hidden danger of hypertension caused by excessive drinking. Experts explain that even drinking low-sugar "diet cola" can increase the risk of hypertension, although the probability is slightly lower. This suggests that caffeine does not cause blood pressure to rise; rather, some chemical substances in cola, such as sodium, can elevate blood pressure.
In life, there are many causes of hypertension, so everyone should pay attention to eliminating these risk factors in a timely manner. Women, in particular, should reduce their frequency and amount of cola consumption to avoid the symptoms of hypertension that excessive drinking can bring, thus preventing themselves from falling into a health crisis.
