Methods to Prevent Rice from Weevils
Introduction: Imagine coming home very hungry to see your mom has cooked rice, placed it on the table. You eagerly rush over to eat big mouthfuls. As you eat, you find a weevil in your rice. How would you feel? Therefore, it is very necessary to prevent rice from weevils.
Here are some methods to prevent rice from weevils.
1. Use lime to prevent rice weevils. Spread some quicklime at the bottom of the rice container, cover it with plastic cloth, and then add the rice. Seal the container tightly to prevent insects.
2. Use liquor to prevent rice weevils. Because the evaporated ethanol in liquor has insecticidal and bactericidal effects, it can prevent rice from weevils. Place a clean bottle of liquor into the rice container. The bottle opening should be above the rice surface, without a cap. Then seal the container tightly to prevent weevils.
3. Use garlic to prevent rice weevils. Place a few cloves of garlic in the rice container and seal it tightly. This can also effectively prevent insects.
4. Use Sichuan pepper to prevent rice weevils. Wrap some Sichuan peppercorns in several small pieces of gauze and place them in different positions (top, middle, bottom) of the rice container. Then seal the container tightly. If you use a bag for the rice, you can soak the bag directly in boiled Sichuan pepper water, then let it dry. When you put the rice in, it can prevent weevils.
5. Use kelp to prevent rice weevils. Because dried kelp has strong moisture absorption, it can kill insects and inhibit mold. Place some dried kelp in the rice at a ratio of about 100:1 (rice to kelp). Take it out to dry in the sun every 10 days or so, then put it back in the rice container. This method can be reused and effectively prevents rice from molding and developing weevils.
6. Use bottles to prevent rice weevils. You can pour bagged rice into beverage bottles, which can be stored for a long time without weevils. The containers must be clean and airtight. It is best to store rice in jars, crocks, or barrels with tight-fitting lids. If you use a cloth bag, put a plastic bag over it and tie the opening tightly.
If you don't want to be "in for a surprise" during your next meal, pay attention to preventing rice from weevils.
