Nowadays, more and more women are paying attention to drinking water, but few truly know how to drink it correctly. Drinking without regard to time, content, or thought... all this proves you are merely drinking water, but not necessarily the right kind. So, what hidden dangers are there in drinking water?
Drinking water can also be harmful to women
Drinking plenty of water is good for your body and your skin, but not all water is good for you. The wrong kind of water not only has no benefits but can also be harmful, so ladies, be careful.
1. Boiled water that has been left standing
After being left for a long time, the nitrogen-containing organic compounds in boiled water will continuously break down into nitrites. Especially in boiled water that has been stored for too long, bacterial contamination is inevitable, which accelerates the decomposition of nitrogen-containing organic compounds and leads to the formation of more nitrites. After drinking such water, nitrites combine with hemoglobin, affecting the blood's oxygen transport function.
Therefore, boiled water that has been in a thermos for days, water that has been repeatedly boiled, or water that has been boiling on a stove for a long time has already had its composition altered and should not be consumed. You should drink water that has been boiled once and is not older than 24 hours.
In addition, various bottled and桶装 (barreled) purified water and mineral water should not be stored for too long. Large bottles or barrels of purified water and mineral water should not be consumed after 3 days.
2. Saltwater
Some people believe that drinking light saltwater is beneficial to health, so they drink it upon waking. This understanding is mistaken. It is true that light saltwater is healthy, and it is necessary for replenishing fluids after sweating in the summer, but for replenishing fluids in the morning, it is not only useless but also a harmful practice that endangers health.
Physiological research suggests that during a full night's sleep, a person does not drink a single drop of water, yet they are breathing, sweating, and urinating, which consume and lose a lot of water. Upon waking in the morning, the blood is in a concentrated state. Drinking a certain amount of plain water at this time can quickly dilute the blood, correcting the hypertonic dehydration from the night. Drinking saltwater, on the other hand, will worsen the hypertonic dehydration, making one feel even more thirsty. Besides, the morning is the first peak of elevated blood pressure in the human body, and drinking saltwater will make it even higher, which is harmful to health.
3. Beverages
The first cup of water in the morning should preferably not be commercially available juices, colas, sodas, coffee, milk, or other beverages. Most carbonated drinks like sodas and colas contain citric acid, which accelerates the excretion of calcium during metabolism, lowering the calcium content in the blood. Long-term consumption can lead to calcium deficiency. Other beverages have a diuretic effect; drinking them in the morning not only fails to effectively replenish the body's needed fluids but also increases the body's demand for water,反而 causing dehydration.
Fruit juice, milk, and coffee are also not suitable as the first drink in the morning because these substances cannot provide the water the body needs most at that time. They also force the digestive and absorption systems to work in a state of dehydration, which is not good for your health.
So, for your own health, everyone must remember that the "waters" mentioned above should not be drunk upon waking.
4. Drink more "invisible" water
Some people seem not to drink water all day, but that's because the moisture they get from food is sufficient to meet their needs. Food also contains water. For example, rice contains up to 60% water, and congee (porridge) is even richer in water. If you check a food composition table, you will see that vegetables and fruits generally contain over 70% water. Even if you only eat 500 grams of fruits and vegetables a day, you can get 300-400 ml of water (that's two cups!). Furthermore, daily diets often include a mix of solid and liquid foods, so it is not difficult to get 1500-2000 ml of water from three meals. You might as well take advantage of meal times to rehydrate by choosing more fruits, vegetables, and unsalty soups and porridges, which are all great for hydration.
5. Boiled tap water
Boiled tap water may contain high-chlorine compounds that are carcinogenic. If left for a long time (e.g., overnight), the water quality can become "aged".
Nowadays, various types of home water treatment devices have also appeared, similar to the once-popular mineral water dispensers. Such equipment has subsequent maintenance issues, just like water dispensers, and can become a source of secondary pollution of drinking water.
