Different Tea Preservation Methods

Different Teas, Different "Preservation" Methods

Famous and High-Quality Green Tea

is the type of tea most prone to aging and spoilage, easily losing its lustrous color and unique aroma. For home storage of famous green tea, the moisture-absorbing method with quicklime can be used. This involves selecting a sealed container (such as an earthenware jar, porcelain坛, or a scentless metal can), placing quicklime chunks in a cloth bag inside the container, wrapping the tea in kraft paper and placing it on the cloth bag, sealing the container, and storing it in a cool, dry place. If conditions permit, the tea, after being dehumidified by the quicklime, can be packaged in an aluminum-plated composite bag with an oxygen absorber inside. After sealing, store it in a refrigerator, and its quality can be maintained for about two years.

Black Tea and Oolong Tea

Compared to green tea, they age and spoil more slowly and are easier to store. By avoiding light, high temperatures, and items with strong odors, they can be preserved for a long time.

Jasmine Tea

is a reprocessed tea made from green tea, with a high moisture content, making it easy to spoil. When storing, attention should be paid to moisture-proofing. It should be kept in a cool, dry, and odor-free environment as much as possible.

Green tea can be said to be the most commonly consumed tea. Whether it's office workers or high-ranking officials, they all value the health benefits of green tea. Green tea is also famous for its drinking value. For individuals or families who drink green tea long-term, if they buy a large quantity at once, they must store it well to prevent waste from spoilage.

Pu-erh Tea

If stored properly, Pu-erh tea will become more fragrant with age. A widely used method currently is the "Earthenware Jar Aging Method": take a wide-mouthed earthenware jar, mix aged and new tea and place them in the jar to facilitate aging. For tea cakes that are about to be consumed, the whole cake can be broken into loose tea and placed in an earthenware jar (do not choose an airtight metal can). After letting it sit for half a month, it can be used. This is because the outer part of a general tea cake is often loose and permeable, while the center has a strong "tea qi" (energy). After being treated with the above "Tea Qi Balancing Method," the inside and outside can complement each other, allowing one to enjoy a higher quality tea soup.
