Introduction: As summer arrives, people suffer from the hot weather and are easily susceptible to viruses. Eating more mushrooms can effectively boost metabolism and enhance immunity. Here are six types of mushrooms that can effectively improve immunity.
1. Oyster Mushroom
Oyster mushrooms are delicious, nutritious, and have the effects of dispelling wind, expelling cold, relaxing muscles, and activating collaterals. They have a certain therapeutic effect on waist and leg pain, numbness in hands and feet, and discomfort in tendons and meridians, making them especially suitable for the elderly. They can also help regulate menopausal syndrome in women. Fresh oyster mushrooms should be light gray, thick in texture, tender and delicious, and very affordable. When buying, choose dry ones; squeeze the stem, and if water seeps out, the quality is not good. Next, check the edge; good oyster mushrooms have neat, slightly curled-down edges. If the edge is flat and cracked, it's too old. Choose oyster mushrooms with smaller caps for better flavor.
2. Shiitake Mushroom
Shiitake mushrooms are known as the "King of Mushrooms." Among all types of mushrooms, shiitake has the best anti-cancer properties and is rich in lentinan. The vitamin D content in shiitake is also significantly higher than other varieties, which helps with calcium absorption in the body, making it very suitable for menopausal women. When selecting, for fresh shiitake, choose those with a moist cap and upright gills, which are fresher. If the surface is sticky or dripping with water, don't buy it. For dried shiitake, choose those with thicker caps and inward-curled edges. Good shiitake mushrooms have cracked patterns on the cap, known as "flower mushrooms," while inferior ones have very thin caps.

3. Enoki Mushroom
Enoki mushrooms contain a complete range of essential amino acids for the human body, with particularly high levels of lysine and arginine, which are beneficial for the development of children's brain cells. They are called "smart mushrooms" abroad and are therefore especially suitable for children. However, people with weak spleens and stomachs should not eat too many. The common enoki mushrooms on the market are of two types: yellow and white. The former has a slightly darker center than the edge on the cap, and the stem is lighter at the top and darker at the bottom; the latter is milky white, not pure white. Regardless of the type, if the color is uniformly bright and fresh, it may have been treated with smoke, bleach, dye, or additives. In this case, you can smell it for any unusual odor. Also, choose mushrooms with hemispherical caps that are not fully opened; if they are open, they are old. The ideal stem length is about 15 cm.
4. Straw Mushroom
Straw mushrooms have the highest vitamin C content among all mushrooms and have a detoxifying effect. Additionally, they can slow down the absorption of carbohydrates by the gastrointestinal tract, which is beneficial for diabetics. The top of a straw mushroom is grayish-brown, the root is grayish-white, and the overall shape is oval. When buying, look for those with small tops, short and thick stems, a complete shape, and unopened caps. Mushrooms that are smaller in size and lighter in color are usually younger. You can also press the surface; if it feels soft and limp, it is not very fresh.

5. King Oyster Mushroom
King oyster mushrooms are rich in protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper, and zinc. They can improve the human immune system and have anti-cancer, blood lipid-lowering, stomach-nourishing, and beautifying effects. The main part eaten is the stem. It is thick, smooth, and firm in texture, with a dense structure, resembling abalone, hence its name. Selection is simple: as long as the mushroom body is firm, the shape is round, the cap is light brown, the stem is milky white, and there is no unusual odor, it's good. At the same time, you can pinch the surface of the stem to feel if the texture is delicate and has a certain elasticity.
6. Button Mushroom
Button mushrooms are also called white mushrooms. Their caps are white and relatively firm. Button mushrooms, rich in the trace element selenium, are a good source of selenium supplementation. Additionally, they contain various antiviral components, so eating more in spring can help improve immunity and resist viruses. When selecting, those with round, smooth, flat caps, thick edges, and short, thick stems are better. You can also turn the mushroom over to see if the edge of the cap is connected to the stem. If they are connected, the quality is better. Furthermore, many button mushrooms on the market are bleached, so try to pick those with a little soil on the surface, indicating they haven't been washed.
