Panda tangyuan, with their adorable black-and-white appearance, are not only delicious but also fun to make. Perfect for festivals or family gatherings, here’s a simple recipe to create these sweet treats.
### Ingredients
For the dough:
- 200g glutinous rice flour
- 100g boiling water
- 1 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
For the filling:
- 150g black sesame paste (or peanut/bean paste)
- 50g sugar, mixed with 1 tbsp water to form a paste
For the panda features:
- A small piece of black dough (made from leftover glutinous rice flour + water)
### Steps
1. Prepare the dough: Mix glutinous rice flour and sugar. Gradually add boiling water, stirring until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5 minutes, then divide into two portions: ⅔ for the white body, ⅓ for the black features.
2. Make the filling: Roll the black sesame paste into small balls (about 1cm each).
3. Shape the panda:
- Take a white dough piece (about 30g) and flatten it. Place a filling ball in the center, then wrap and seal it into a ball.
- For the ears, eyes, and nose: Roll tiny black dough balls. Attach two small balls as ears on top, two slightly larger ones as eyes, and a tiny one as the nose. Press gently to secure.
4. Cook: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add tangyuan and cook until they float (about 5-7 minutes). Simmer for another 2 minutes.
5. Serve: Serve hot in a sweet ginger syrup or plain with a sprinkle of sugar.
These cuddly panda tangyuan are sure to bring joy to your table. Enjoy your homemade creation!
