The Yam and Red Bean Sesame Cake is a completely healthy dessert. If you are on a sugar-free diet, you can omit the sugar. All the ingredients are healthful treasures: red beans nourish the blood and promote urination, yam strengthens the spleen and harmonizes the stomach, and sesame seeds provide calcium and help darken hair.
It's a great choice for either breakfast or a snack. You won't have to worry about gaining weight, and it's very healthy. Have five of these for breakfast along with a glass of milk. Note that you should bake them in an oven or pan-fry them in a flat-pan grill before eating; do not steam them.
Main ingredients: 1 yam
Side ingredients: appropriate amount of red bean paste, appropriate amount of all-purpose flour, appropriate amount of black sesame seeds, appropriate amount of white sesame seeds, appropriate amount of granulated sugar
Steps:
1. Peel the yam, place it in a pressure cooker, and steam until cooked. (I peeled the yam and waited a while before steaming it, so it turned a bit dark. Everyone should steam it right after peeling it).
2. Mash the steamed yam with a spoon into a puree.
3. Add sugar to taste.
4. Add flour and mix until a dough forms.
5. After mixing evenly, take a portion of the yam dough and shape it into a small cup.
6. Fill it with homemade red bean paste.
7. Seal the opening and roll it into a ball.
8. Roll the ball in a plate of sesame seeds to coat it.
9. Flatten it into a cake shape.
10. Place it in a flat-pan grill and pan-fry until both sides are golden brown.
Tip:
1. Steam the yam immediately after peeling it.
2. Mash the yam while it is still hot.
3. No oil is needed in the pan. Both pan-frying and baking functions are suitable. Recommended for you: Recipes for Yam
