Dietary Management for Chronic Pharyngitis

Chronic pharyngitis is a common disease, a diffuse pharyngeal lesion caused by chronic infection, mainly inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa. It is more common in adults, and its main causes include excessive smoking or drinking or other unhealthy living habits, allergic constitution, or decreased body resistance. The following are some dietary conditioning methods for chronic pharyngitis:

1. Eat foods rich in collagen and elastin, such as pig's trotters, pigskin, tendons, fish, beans, and seafood, which are beneficial for repairing the damaged parts of chronic pharyngitis.

2. Increase your intake of foods rich in B vitamins, such as animal liver, lean meat, fish, fresh fruits, green vegetables, dairy products, and beans, which help to repair the damaged pharynx and eliminate inflammation of the respiratory mucosa.

3. Eat less or no fried, spicy and irritating foods, such as: fried dough sticks, fried glutinous rice balls, fried cakes, chili, garlic, pepper, etc.

4. Often drink some dietary beverages that benefit the throat and promote fluid production. The following two examples are for reference: Green Tea and Honey Drink: 5 grams of green tea, an appropriate amount of honey. Place the green tea in a cup, pour in boiling water, add honey and drink. Take 1 dose daily. It can clear heat, benefit the throat, moisten the lungs, and promote fluid production. Lily and Mung Bean Soup: 20 grams of lily, 50 grams of mung beans, and an appropriate amount of rock sugar. Cook the lily and mung beans with an appropriate amount of water until tender, add rock sugar and drink. Take 1 dose daily. It can clear heat, moisten the lungs, and nourish yin to promote fluid production.
