Eating too much pasta is not necessarily good for your health. A new study conducted by scholars from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health recently found that people who consume a large amount of carbohydrates, such as pasta, are more likely to suffer from depression.

Researchers examined the relationship between carbohydrate consumption and depression over a 12-year follow-up period. They recruited 43,000 women with no history of depression, inquired about their daily diets, and monitored their blood test results.
The study results showed that women who ate red meat and refined grains (such as bread, noodles, pasta, and french fries) had a 29% to 41% increased risk of being diagnosed with depression or receiving treatment for depression. In addition, carbohydrates also had a negative impact on their body's levels of inflammation.
Although the researchers cannot yet explain the specific reasons for the above study, they have provided a list of foods that can reduce the risk of depression and inflammation, including olive oil, coffee, wine, fish, and vegetables.
