Did you know that these foods are actually more toxic when they are fresher?

Do you always like to eat food when it's very fresh? In fact, in daily life, people have the idea that you must eat food while it's still fresh, otherwise they always feel that the nutrients have been lost. But did you know? Not all foods can be eaten fresh. Eating some foods fresh can have the opposite effect. So today, let's tell you which foods you must never eat fresh, hurry up and find out.

Fresh Daylilies

Try to avoid eating fresh daylilies. Fresh daylilies contain colchicine, which, after being absorbed by the intestines, can be converted into a toxic substance in the body, causing poisoning in the consumer.

In contrast, dried daylilies undergo processes such as steam fumigation and sun-drying during production, which can remove most of the colchicine, making them safer.

Colchicine is water-soluble, so if you eat fresh daylilies, you must first blanch, soak, or boil them. It is also best to soak dried daylilies before consumption.

Fresh Wood Ear Mushrooms

Actually, dried wood ear mushrooms are safer than fresh ones. Because fresh wood ear mushrooms contain a special component called "porphyrin". Porphyrin is a photosensitive substance. After eating fresh wood ear mushrooms and being exposed to sunlight, it can cause plant-based dermatitis, and may also cause skin itching, with symptoms of redness, swelling, and itching in exposed areas of the skin.

Dried wood ear mushrooms are a finished product that has been sun-dried. During the sun-drying process, most of the porphyrin is decomposed. Before consumption, it is soaked in water, and the remaining toxins will dissolve in the water, making the rehydrated dried wood ear mushrooms non-toxic. It should be noted that when soaking dried wood ear mushrooms, the water should be changed several times.

Fresh Pickled Vegetables

Fresh vegetables contain a certain amount of nitrates. During the salt-pickling process, they are reduced to nitrites. After the concentration reaches a peak, the nitrites are gradually used or decomposed by bacteria. And nitrites are carcinogenic.

Generally speaking, the highest amount of nitrites in pickled vegetables appears between two days to more than ten days after the start of pickling. Therefore, it is best to eat pickled vegetables more than twenty days after pickling.

Fresh Milk

Freshly squeezed milk carries bacteria, such as Brucella and tuberculosis bacillus, which can easily cause zoonotic infectious diseases.

In addition, this "fresh milk" cannot guarantee the hygiene of the milking environment, the disinfection of containers, or the health of the milker. Therefore, it is safer for consumers to buy milk from regular manufacturers in supermarkets.

Fresh Jellyfish

Fresh jellyfish contains a lot of water, a thick body, and also contains toxins. Only through repeated cleaning with salt and alum (commonly known as "three-alum") can the fresh jellyfish be dehydrated, allowing the toxins in the jellyfish to be completely drained away with the water.

"Two-alum" jellyfish is light red or light yellow, even in thickness and has a chewy texture, and no water can be squeezed out even with force. This kind of jellyfish is edible. When people travel to jellyfish producing areas, they may encounter vendors selling jellyfish that has not been treated or has only been salted once or twice. Do not taste or buy it.

Bottled Water

The bottled water sold on the market, whether it's distilled water, mineral water, or other purified water, mostly requires ozone for final disinfection before being bottled. Therefore, freshly bottled water will contain a relatively high concentration of ozone.

Ozone is a toxic substance to humans. If you drink bottled water while it's fresh, you will undoubtedly ingest this toxin into your body. If you leave the bottled water for 1-2 days, the ozone will naturally dissipate.

According to regulations, bottled water must be inspected and qualified before it can leave the factory, and this process takes 48 hours. Therefore, bottled water that is inspected and leaves the factory in accordance with regulations is safe.

Fruits in the Orchard

When fruits are ripe, many orchards hold picking activities, and many people think that eating fresh fruits is more enjoyable.

In fact, any fruit in the orchard nowadays is inevitably sprayed with pesticides and may have some pests and diseases. If you don't wash, disinfect, or peel them, and just pick them from the branch and put them in your mouth to chew, the harm is considerable.

Fresh Wild Vegetables

Many people like to eat natural fresh wild vegetables when visiting scenic spots.

In fact, many natural wild vegetables nowadays grow near garbage dumps or polluted rivers, and it is very difficult to clean these wild vegetables.

If you eat polluted wild vegetables, it can be harmful to your body.

New Tea

From a nutritional perspective, the nutritional content of the newest tea is not necessarily the best. Because so-called new tea refers to tea that has just been picked and has not been stored for a month. Because these teas have not been left to sit for a period of time, some substances that are harmful to health, such as polyphenols, alcohols, and aldehydes, have not been completely oxidized.

If you drink new tea for a long time, you may experience uncomfortable reactions such as diarrhea, abdominal distension, etc.

New tea is even worse for menopausal patients. Some people with a lack of gastric acid, or elderly patients with chronic gastric ulcers or hepatitis B, are even less suitable for drinking new tea. New tea can irritate their gastric mucosa, causing gastrointestinal discomfort, and can even worsen their condition.
