We all know that drinking milk is beneficial for maintaining human health, but recently, dermatologists from the University at Buffalo in the United States have discovered that frequent consumption of milk and other dairy products may be a primary cause of acne.
Harvey Abroms, a dermatologist from the University at Buffalo, said: "Although it has been suggested since the 1960s that iodine might stimulate the human skin, leading to acne, we have not had conclusive evidence to prove where this iodine comes from. Various studies in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, and Italy have shown that in countries with high milk consumption, like the US and UK, the incidence of acne is very high. Consequently, scientists have begun to suspect that it may be the excessive iodine in milk that causes people to develop acne."
p>Harvey also stated that milk and other dairy products do contain very high concentrations of iodine. This is because for a long time, farmers have used iodine not only to prevent infections in cows but also to clean their udders and milking equipment, without noticing that the iodine levels in the milk had become severely excessive. More importantly, iodine can undergo chemical changes with hormones in the human body. Therefore, when treating patients with acne, Harvey most often advises them to reduce their intake of milk and dairy products.
