Five Steps to Cook Edamame Correctly

How to cook edamame for better taste? First, prepare 500 grams of edamame, and seasonings such as ginger slices, dried chili peppers, bay leaves, cinnamon, star anise, Sichuan peppercorns, and salt. Then, follow the steps below.

Step 1: For the edamame to absorb flavor, be sure to trim both ends of the pods first. After that, change the water twice. In the first rinse, rub the edamame with your hands to remove impurities from the surface fuzz.

Step 2: Add water to a pot, along with 4-5 slices of ginger, 4 dried chili peppers, an appropriate amount of bay leaves and Sichuan peppercorns, and 2 star anise with a little cinnamon. Bring to a boil.

Step 3: Once the water is boiling, add the washed edamame, cover the pot, and bring back to a boil.

Step 4: After it comes to a boil, set a timer for 5 minutes, then add 3 small spoons of salt. If using salt crystals, just 1 small spoon is enough for the perfect savory taste.

Step 5: Boil the edamame over medium heat for only 5 minutes; this cooking time makes the edamame crispy and gives it a great texture. After turning off the heat, do not take them out immediately. Wait for half an hour for the water to cool before eating.
