Three red foods, each with unique nutritional benefits.

On our dining tables, there are many red-colored foods. Although these foods have similar colors, their health benefits are each distinct.

● Red Meat

Red meat, animal offal, blood tofu, etc., are rich in heme iron. Iron in the body mainly serves as a component of hemoglobin and myoglobin, participating in the transport of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Iron deficiency can lead to iron-deficiency anemia. Mild iron-deficiency anemia manifests as easy fatigue, decreased concentration, intolerance to cold, and reduced resistance. Generally, the redder the meat, the more heme iron it contains. Animal offal such as the heart, liver, and kidneys, as well as animal blood, are the richest sources of heme iron.

● Red Vegetables

Tomatoes are rich in lycopene. It has a strong antioxidant effect. Research has found that a high intake of lycopene can also reduce the risk of esophageal, oral, stomach, colorectal, and lung cancers. Generally, the riper the tomato, the higher its lycopene content. Lycopene is a fat-soluble nutrient, and its absorption and utilization rate are higher when consumed with oil.

● Red Fruits

Red-fleshed dragon fruit is rich in betacyanin. Betacyanin is the main coloring substance in red-fleshed dragon fruit and other purplish-red foods. It has strong antioxidant properties, helps eliminate free radicals in the human body, and has anti-aging effects.
