U.S. Medical Express reported on November 10 that scientists from Kashan University of Medical Sciences and Islamic Azad University made the first discovery: a daily cup of yogurt, supplemented with probiotics, can improve the cognitive function of patients with Alzheimer's disease.
The researchers also found that the probiotics in yogurt can help lower the levels of triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein in the blood of Alzheimer's patients. Their insulin resistance (a condition where various causes lead to a decrease in the efficiency of insulin's promotion of glucose uptake and utilization, causing the body to compensate by secreting excessive insulin to produce hyperinsulinemia and maintain blood sugar stability) and the activity of insulin-producing cells in the pancreas also decreased.
