An increasing number of tropical fruits are entering the lives of the general public. While we indulge in these delicious treats, we may overlook which tropical fruits are suitable for us and which are not.
Individuals with a 'cold' constitution generally exhibit symptoms such as low body temperature, a tendency to feel cold, a cold sensation in the abdomen, diarrhea, weak digestion, bloating, and poor appetite. This group is well-suited for consuming durian, rambutan, coconut, and papaya, which are tropical fruits with 'warm' or 'hot' properties. Among these, durian is especially beneficial for women troubled by menstrual cramps, as it can alleviate pain and warm the body. Additionally, durian juice is thick and viscous, which can easily obstruct the throat and trachea, leading to suffocation; therefore, the elderly should eat it in small quantities and slowly. It is also advisable to avoid alcohol for at least nine hours after consuming durian. Coconut milk can be applied to hair to make it darker, while papaya can relax muscles and strengthen bones, providing some auxiliary therapeutic effect on neck, shoulder, waist, and leg pain.
On the other hand, individuals with a 'hot' constitution are prone to 'internal heat,' often experiencing constipation, mouth ulcers, and a dry mouth and throat. This group is suitable for consuming mangosteen, dragon fruit, and mango, which are tropical fruits with 'cool' or 'neutral' properties. Mango also has the effect of stopping nausea. People who frequently get motion sickness may find relief from vomiting by eating mango. Furthermore, pregnant women experiencing nausea can eat mango flesh or drink water boiled with mango. It is important to note that mango juice can cause dermatitis in people with allergies, so those with allergic constitutions should strictly avoid it. Also, mango should not be consumed after a full meal or with spicy substances like garlic. Mangosteen is particularly suitable for the weak or those recovering from illness, with a recommended daily intake of three. Additionally, if you experience 'internal heat' from eating durian, consuming a few mangosteens can help alleviate it.
The fruits with 'warm' or 'hot' properties can easily cause 'internal heat,' so individuals with a 'hot' constitution should eat them in moderation. Similarly, the 'cool' fruits can easily lead to diarrhea, so individuals with a 'cold' constitution should also eat them sparingly.
