Lily
Lily is rich in protein, fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and vitamins, making it a nutritious food suitable for all ages. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, lily is used as a tonic for hemostasis, activating blood circulation, clearing the lungs and moistening dryness, nourishing yin and clearing heat, and regulating the spleen and strengthening the stomach. Modern research indicates that lily has significant cough suppressant, anti-asthmatic, and hemostatic effects, and can enhance the body's immune function. Wash the lily, cook it until done, add rock sugar, and then consume it after cooling to clear heat and moisten the lungs, as well as to nourish and replenish the body.
Red Date
Red date has a sweet and mild nature, and it acts on the spleen and stomach meridians. It has the effect of replenishing qi and nourishing blood, making it an excellent food for strengthening the spleen and qi. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, red dates are commonly used to treat symptoms such as spleen and stomach weakness, qi and blood deficiency, and insomnia. Pharmacological research has found that red dates have protective effects on the liver and can lower blood lipids. Experts remind that red dates have a tendency to generate damp-heat, so they should not be consumed in large amounts. Especially for those with internal damp-heat, excessive consumption can lead to adverse reactions such as chills, fever, thirst, and bloating.
Sweet Potato
Sweet potatoes are rich in essential nutrients such as starch, vitamins, and dietary fiber, and are also abundant in mineral elements like magnesium, phosphorus, and calcium, as well as substances like linoleic acid. These substances help maintain the elasticity of blood vessels and are very effective in preventing and treating habitual constipation in the elderly. Additionally, sweet potatoes are an ideal weight-loss food because they are rich in dietary fiber and pectin, which can prevent sugar from being converted into fat.
Goji Berry
Goji berries have effects such as reducing fever and relieving cough and phlegm. Decocting and drinking the goji berry root can lower blood pressure. Goji berry tea, on the other hand, is said to treat conditions like a cold constitution, liver and kidney diseases, tuberculosis, constipation, insomnia, low blood pressure, anemia, various eye diseases, hair loss, and stomatitis. However, because goji berries have a strong warming effect on the body, people with high blood pressure or a very irritable temperament should avoid eating them. Conversely, those with a weak constitution who often catch colds and have poor resistance are best advised to consume them daily.
