Weigh 500 grams of hawthorn, wash it with clean water, and place it in a stainless steel pot. Pour in clear water and turn on medium heat. After the water boils, turn to low heat. Cook for 20 minutes and then turn off the heat.2
Take a large container, pour the mushy hawthorn into the filter screen, place it on the container, and use a spoon to roll the hawthorn in a circular manner to filter out the delicate hawthorn paste.3
Weigh 38 grams of corn starch and 50 grams of clear water and mix them well for later use.4
Pour the filtered hawthorn paste into the pan, add white sugar, place it on a gas stove and turn on low heat (stir with a wooden shovel during this period).5
After the white sugar is completely melted, add the evenly blended starch paste in small amounts several times (during this period, use a wooden shovel to stir quickly in one direction).6
Cook the hawthorn paste until it is very sticky and large bubbles emerge, turn off the heat.7
Then pour the boiled hawthorn paste into a container covered with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for two hours before you can eat it.Hawthorn cake Make Tips
1. When boiling hawthorns, the ratio of hawthorns to water is 2:1 (hawthorns do not need to be pitted).
2. It is not advisable to use an iron pot to boil hawthorns; it is best to use a stainless steel pot or an enamel pot.
3. Remember not to pour all the prepared starch slurry in at once; pour it in small amounts several times, stirring well before adding the remainder.
