Cold melon is an alias for bitter gourd and belongs to a kind of melons in the gourd family. We southerners usually eat bitter gourd as a vegetable. Cantonese people named bitter gourd "cold melon" because its name is not good. Among melon vegetables, it contains high vitamin C and is rich in potassium!
