Serpentine toast

When I was a kid, I loved all kinds of salty, greasy things. Mom was selling tobacco and alcohol on the street, and every time she came back, she brought us pots and sodas and snacks. It takes half an hour to ride a bike from the city, and the mother keeps her shop late for more money, and every time she comes home, it's dark. It's been a long time since we've been out of school. It's a long road at the village entrance. It's the south wind every night. Mom's way home. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. We often say that we wait for five more cars before we go back.
