I made the dragon skin cake for this year's New Year's banquet. Next year is the Year of the Dragon~! Lotus seeds and red dates are generally used in my hometown. My hometown is rich in Xianglian, and lotus seeds have the effects of preventing cancer and cancer, lowering blood pressure, strengthening the heart and calming the nerves, nourishing and replenishing deficiency, stopping astringent essence, clearing heart, and removing spots; when paired with red dates, the effect of prolonging the appearance and longevity is even stronger.
But considering that it is generally difficult for all friends to have first-class authentic Xianglian flowers in their homes, most of the supermarkets sell second-hand products for adults, making it difficult to cook hair. So I used potatoes instead of lotus seeds, so that everyone can pick materials anywhere and make them easy. The finished product is delicious except that it does not have the aroma of lotus seeds in taste and does not have the milky white color of lotus seeds. Besides, red dates also have the effect of lengthening the face and prolonging life.
The origin of the name of the dragon skin cake:
Dragon skin refers to the skin of spring rolls. The steamed spring roll skin is like the layer of skin removed by a snake. In ancient times, some people said that the snake was a dragon and violated the rules of heaven. The Jade Emperor sent people to cut off all its hands and feet and banish it to heaven. It became a snake, so the snake had no limbs. So it's not too much for me to call snake skin a dragon skin~!
I use red dates and potatoes to make snake meat. If lotus seeds are used, the snake belly will be milky white, and the back will be dark red with red dates, more like snake meat.

If you have lotus seeds at home, you can use lotus seeds. Put them in a pressure cooker, steam them over water and press them into mud.

Peel and cut the potatoes into thin slices, place them in a steamer and steam for 10 minutes under water (the time must be adjusted according to the slices you cut).

When steaming potatoes, we handle red dates. Wash the red dates to remove the cores.

Cut the pitted red dates into pieces.

Put the butter in the microwave for 1 minute to melt. Because it is winter, it is difficult to melt at room temperature. It can melt at room temperature in summer.

Add appropriate amount of butter into the red dates puree, stir well and press tightly, not add too much butter!

Remove the steamed potatoes, press them into a puree, and add appropriate amount of butter and stir well. I didn't add extra sugar. Red dates themselves have sweetness. If you like it too sweet, you can add some sugar.

Cut the spring roll skin into two pieces, take a small piece, and put red dates paste on top. Add the mashed potatoes, roll them over from the edge, and press tight.

Note that I only use one layer of spring roll skin. If I fold too much, I can cut off the excess. Don't roll it in many layers like you do with sushi. Use the same method to make all the remaining materials into rolls.

Spread butter or peanut oil evenly on a rolled plate. Prevent the rolls from sticking to the plate while steaming. Place the finished rolls on a plate without overlapping them, and leave a gap in the middle if they are side by side. Prevent skins from sticking together during steaming.

Place the prepared roll in a steamer and steam for 1 minute against water. Be careful to wait until the water boils before putting it on the pan.

Allow the steamed rolls to cool slightly and take them out, gently pick up one, cut them into sections with scissors, and sprinkle with sesame seeds to decorate.

When cutting, the scissors should start from the red dates paste side. The mashed potatoes are too soft and easy to cut. You can also wait until it cools down before cutting, which is easier.
