How to Make the Viral "Dirty" Cookie Butter Bun

The "dirty bun" took social media by storm with its messy, indulgent appeal—soft, pillowy bread slathered with rich cookie butter and coated in a layer of crushed Oreo crumbs. Here’s a simple guide to recreate this viral treat at home.

Start with the base: a lightly sweetened milk bread dough. Mix flour, yeast, sugar, milk, eggs, and butter, then knead until smooth. Let it rise until doubled in size. While waiting, prepare the "dirt" by finely blending 10 Oreos (or any chocolate sandwich cookies) into crumbs. For the filling, use store-bought cookie butter (or make your own with crushed cookies, butter, and a pinch of salt).

Once risen, divide the dough into 6 balls. Flatten each, spread a spoonful of cookie butter in the center, and seal the edges. Roll the filled buns in the Oreo crumbs, pressing gently to coat. Let them proof for 20 minutes, then bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–18 minutes until golden.

For extra decadence, drizzle with melted chocolate or top with a dusting of powdered sugar. The result? A gooey, crunchy, and utterly irresistible snack that’s as fun to make as it is to eat—perfect for your next Instagram post!
