How to Make Stir-Fried Tofu Skin: A Simple Guide

Stir-fried tofu skin (素炒千张) is a quick, nutritious, and versatile dish loved for its chewy texture and ability to absorb flavors. Here’s a simple guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: 200g tofu skin (soaked and sliced into thin strips), 1 bell pepper (sliced), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional), 1 tsp sugar, a pinch of salt, and 2 tbsp cooking oil.

Steps:

1. Prep the tofu skin: Soak dried tofu skin in warm water for 15-20 minutes until soft, then drain and cut into bite-sized strips.

2. Stir-fry aromatics: Heat oil in a wok over medium heat. Add minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

3. Cook vegetables: Add tofu skin and bell pepper, stirring for 2-3 minutes until the tofu skin softens slightly.

4. Season: Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and salt. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes, ensuring all ingredients are evenly coated.

5. Finish: Turn off the heat and garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or chopped green onions for extra flavor.
