A nutritious breakfast must meet these four criteria.

A Drink some water before breakfast

After a night's sleep, the body loses a large amount of water and nutrients through urination, the skin, and respiration. Upon waking in the morning, the body is in a state of physiological dehydration. Eating a regular breakfast is far from enough to replenish this physiological water loss. Furthermore, during the night's sleep, most of the body's organs get ample rest, except for the digestive system, which continues to digest and absorb food remaining in the gastrointestinal tract from dinner, only truly entering a rest state around dawn. If breakfast is eaten too early, it will interfere with the rest of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, after waking up, do not rush to eat breakfast. Instead, immediately drink 500-800 milliliters of cool boiled water. This can replenish the body's physiological water needs and also has a "cleansing" effect on the body's organs, thereby improving organ function and preventing disease.

B It's best to eat hot food

Some people prefer bread with milk for breakfast. This combination may seem nutritious, but the outdoor temperature is relatively low in the morning, and the stomach has not truly "warmed up" yet. Consuming cold food at this time can damage the stomach's energy (qi). Eating unheated bread and milk first thing in the morning is not beneficial for stomach protection.

C Make it a bit more "diverse"

Breakfast combinations should not be monotonous; it's better to have some variety. For example, yam congee, jujube congee, oatmeal congee, or vegetable soup are all very nourishing for the stomach, even just a small bowl each morning. At the same time, it is advisable to consume an appropriate amount of foods rich in high-quality protein and fat, such as eggs, bean products, and lean meat.

D Take your time eating

Generally, it is most suitable to eat breakfast 20 to 30 minutes after waking up, as this is when the appetite is at its peak. However, many people, in a hurry, eat their breakfast quickly even if it's hot. This not only makes it harder to digest and affects the efficiency of nutrient absorption, but it is also not good for the stimulation of the esophagus and stomach. Therefore, it is recommended that you eat your breakfast more slowly.
