Making a birthday cake is actually not troublesome at all; all you need is a rice cooker. For the specific steps, please see the introduction below.
Rice Cooker Cake
Ingredients
Main ingredients: 4 eggs (separate yolks from whites), 4 tablespoons of sugar, 3 heaping tablespoons of flour, 6 tablespoons of milk,
Seasoning: a pinch of salt, a little oil,
Additional equipment: a regular white porcelain spoon, 3 chopsticks
Instructions
1. Beat the egg whites with 3 chopsticks. You'll get foam in no time (to enhance the sweetness, you can add a pinch of salt). Add one spoonful of sugar and keep beating. When it gets a little thick, add another spoonful of sugar and continue beating... After about 15 minutes, it will become creamy and will not fall off the chopsticks. This step is crucial; you cannot stop, and it's a bit of a struggle.
2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks with two spoonfuls of sugar, 3 heaping tablespoons of flour, and 6 tablespoons of milk until well combined.
3. Pour in half of the creamy egg white and fold it in (fold up and down, not in a circular motion).
4. Once evenly mixed, pour in the remaining creamy egg white and fold it in well.
5. Press the "Cook" button on the rice cooker to preheat for 1 minute, then remove the inner pot. It should be slightly hot. Pour in a little oil and spread it evenly on the inner pot to prevent sticking.
6. Pour in the batter, then gently tap the pot a few times to release any air bubbles.
7. Press the "Cook" button again. After 2 minutes, it will automatically switch to the "Warm" setting. At this point, cover the vent with a towel and let it steam for 20 minutes. Then, press the "Cook" button again. After another 20 minutes, it's done!
(Because the pot was oiled, the cake can be turned out immediately. The bottom will be a bit darker.)
Tip
The entire process must not involve a single drop of water. Make sure all your utensils are dry!
