Follow our step-by-step recipe to enjoy the delicious taste of Mexican chicken wraps without ever having to go to Mexico.
First, let's prepare the ingredients. Don't be intimidated by the thought of it being an imported snack; the ingredients are all common foods we usually have on hand.
Main ingredients: Chicken thighs, lettuce, lotus leaf wraps, tomatoes, onions
Seasonings: Salad dressing, eggs, fried chicken batter
Instructions:
1. Prepare the vegetables. Wash the chicken thighs, debone them, and keep only the meat. Cut the chicken meat into strips about 4 cm long and 1 cm wide. Wash the onions and shred them, wash the tomatoes and slice them, wash the lettuce, drain the water, and place them on a plate for later use.
2. Beat the egg. Put the cut chicken strips into the egg mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated, then dredge them in the fried chicken batter ready for frying.
3. Pour oil into a wok, preferably a deep and narrow one. When the oil is about 80% hot, add the chicken strips one by one. Fry until golden brown, then remove them.
4. Take a separate steamer, add water, and heat over high heat. Once the water is boiling, place the lotus leaf wraps in and steam for about half a minute. After steaming, place the wraps in a dry frying pan over low heat. Toast until one side is slightly colored.
5. After toasting the wrap, place the chicken strips, lettuce, shredded onions, and tomato slices on it. Squeeze on some salad dressing, roll it up, and your delicious and nutritious Mexican chicken wrap is ready!
