6 Natural "Hair Masks" Found in Food

Introduction: Eating the right foods is key to achieving smooth, shiny, and healthier hair. The British Daily Mail has published a list of six foods, summarized by British nutrition expert Shona Wilkinson, that can be considered "natural conditioners" for your hair.

Salmon.

Salmon is a major source of omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, help open hair follicles on the scalp, and improve conditions like a dry scalp and dull hair.

Salmon with Avocado

Spinach.

Spinach is rich in vitamins B, C, and E, as well as nutrients like potassium, calcium, iron, and magnesium. The iron in spinach can boost the oxygen-carrying capacity of red blood cells, leading to healthier hair follicles and shinier hair.

Lentils.

The primary component of hair is protein, so the abundant protein in lentils can enhance hair's flexibility and contribute to its health.

Sweet Potatoes.

The beta-carotene found in sweet potatoes is converted into vitamin A in the body. A deficiency in vitamin A can lead to dry skin, which in turn affects the scalp and can cause dandruff.

Sweet Potato and Pineapple Soup

Eggs.

In addition to being rich in high-quality protein, eggs also contain large amounts of key hair-care nutrients like zinc, selenium, sulfur, and iron. Furthermore, the biotin (a B vitamin) in eggs can improve hair quality, reduce hair loss, and promote hair growth.

Walnuts.

Walnuts are an excellent source of vitamin E. A deficiency in vitamin E can cause hair to become brittle. Additionally, the copper in walnuts helps maintain hair's shine and luster.
