Cut cake is a famous snack in Beijing. Cakes made from glutinous rice or yellow rice flour are mostly cut and sold with red dates or bean paste, hence the name.

Steps for cut cake

Ingredients: glutinous rice (called glutinous rice in the north), red dates.

Wash glutinous rice and red dates clean and soak for more than 4 hours.

Steam for about 10-12 minutes, open the cover, pour boiling water, and stir while pouring the boiling water to fully absorb the water; when the glutinous rice is completely stirred into a porridge shape, cover and continue steaming for 15 minutes.
