The outer layer of a Wife cake is essentially made by wrapping oil dough in water-oil dough, then repeatedly folding and rolling it to achieve a flaky texture, whereas the fillings are rich and varied and can be created according to personal preference. Today, I made a mung bean filling to alleviate the immense guilt the flaky crust brings to me as I am on a diet. Also, traditional flaky pastries are typically made with lard, but since I didn't have any at home, I substituted it with butter.
