The origin of this dish is said to be related to the character Dou E written by Yuan playwright Guan Hanqing.
Scholar Dou Tianzhang responded to the court and gave his daughter Dou E to her creditor Grandma Cai as a child bride before leaving for Chuzhou. Dou E was filial to her mother-in-law in the Cai family and waited on her husband. Her life was relatively decent. Unexpectedly, shortly after she married her husband, her husband died of illness, and her mother-in-law fell ill in bed.
Dou E used her weak shoulders to shoulder the burden of the family. While seeking medical treatment and medicine for her mother-in-law, she also tried every means to change her ways to cook some delicious meals to recuperate her mother-in-law's body. Her mother-in-law gradually got better. However, due to the lack of money and the economy became tense, Dou E had to bite the bullet and go for credit. Before the meat case, the butcher said: You haven't paid off the money you owed the previous two times, and you can't trust it anymore today. Dou E had to ask for favors, but the meat seller couldn't get entangled and cut a small piece of meat for Dou E.
It's time to cook. Dou E thought, what can this little meat do? Her thoughtful eyes fell on the top of the cupboard, where there was a small piece of silk left over from the Chinese New Year. Dou E had an idea. She took off the vermicelli and soaked it in boiling water to soften it, then cut the meat into the powder, add onions and ginger, add soy sauce and vermicelli, stir fry for a while, and finally add shredded green garlic and pepper to the pan.
The mother-in-law lying on the bed asked,"Dou E, what dish did you cook so fragrant? "" It's to fry fans. "Following her words, Dou E brought the vegetables to the bed. Before her mother-in-law moved the chopsticks, she found that there were many black ideas on the fans. She asked with her presbyopic eyes: Why are there so many ants on it? When she knew the whole story and took a bite with her chopsticks, she couldn't help but praise the dish as "ants climbing the tree"
