Wash lotus root, control the moisture for later use. Soak glutinous rice for 2 hours and set aside.2
Cut the small 1/5 of the lotus root to make a cover.3
Stand the lotus root upright, stuff the soaked glutinous rice into each lotus root hole and keep it solid (press the plug inwards with chopsticks), then align the covers, and insert two toothpicks on opposite sides of the lotus root to fix it.4
Remove the pot and fill it with water, add alkali, and put in the lotus root segments. The amount of water should be enough to cover the lotus root. Boil it over high heat, boil it to low heat, slowly cook for 3 hours. After turning off the heat, simmer it in the pot for 1 hour. Take it out, scrape off the lotus root skin, slice it, and pour on white sugar and osmanthus juice to serve.
