How to Make Sweet and Sour Pork Strips

Sweet and sour pork strips, a beloved dish worldwide, are crispy, tender, and bursting with tangy-sweet flavors. Here’s a simple guide to making them at home.

Ingredients:

500g pork tenderloin, cut into 1-inch strips; 1 egg, beaten; 3 tbsp cornstarch; ½ cup all-purpose flour; 2 cups vegetable oil for frying; 1 cup ketchup; 3 tbsp sugar; 2 tbsp vinegar; 1 tsp soy sauce; 1 bell pepper, sliced; 1 onion, sliced; 2 cloves garlic, minced.

Steps:

1. Marinate the pork: In a bowl, toss pork strips with egg, cornstarch, and flour until evenly coated. Let rest for 15 minutes.

2. Deep-fry: Heat oil in a wok (350°F/175°C). Fry pork in batches until golden and crispy, 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

3. Make the sauce: In a small pan, mix ketchup, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic. Simmer over medium heat until slightly thickened.

4. Stir-fry veggies: In the same wok, stir-fry bell pepper and onion until tender-crisp, 2-3 minutes.

5. Combine: Return pork to the wok, pour the sauce over, and toss until evenly coated. Cook for 1 minute.

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles. Enjoy this homemade sweet and sour delight!
